COMMUNITY SUPPORT AND FUNDING

Giving Back

There are many ways to give back to your community. Time, talents, treasures (artifacts), and financial resources are welcome and important to the museum and historical society collection.

The Stevens County Historical Society is a private non-profit organization. Donors may deduct contributions as provided in section 501(c)(3) of the U. S. Internal Revenue Service code. Bequests, legacies, devises, transfers, or gifts are deductible for Federal estate and gift tax purposes.

HELPING HANDS (volunteers) with many skills supplement the budget. All of the tour guides as well as the curator, librarian, historians, office staff, and extractors volunteer their time and talents.

BUILDING and GROUNDS WORKERS find time to do building repair, upkeep, construction, spring cleanup, and placing of exhibits. Great savings have been possible through the donations of the skills of these workers.

CURATOR HELPERS aid in developing new displays and reorganizing old ones. Receiving, researching, cleaning, labeling, and inventorying are year round activities involving many hours of work.

VOLUNTEERS and TOUR GUIDES give generously of their time maintaining the opening hours and conducting tours, cleaning and decorating Keller House and the Museum, and are on call for special events or making displays.

EXTRACTORS and LIBRARY HELPERS go through newspapers, books, and pictures, for information useful to the historians and genealogists who seek information about Stevens County. They make indexes, maintain files and record information into the computer database.

RESEARCHERS and HISTORIANS help people researching their families and do research for authors and other historians.

OFFICE PERSONNEL maintain the telephone, correspondence and stay in contact with the membership, keep financial records, and organize and maintain the computer programs.
